Overview
The 18th edition of the Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN will be conducted in Saljhandi, Nepal from 31st December 2024 to 13th January 2025. The exercise involves the participation of military contingents from both India and Nepal. About Exercise SURYA KIRAN Participants: The Indian Army contingent comprises 334 personnel, led by a Battalion from the 11th Gorkha Rifles. The Nepal Army will be represented by the Srijung Battalion. Nature of the Exercise: It is an annual training event, conducted alternately in India and Nepal. Aims to enhance interoperability in jungle warfare, counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) under the United Nations Charter. Key Objectives and Focus Areas Operational Preparedness: Improving tactical skills and coordination for joint operations in challenging scenarios. Aviation and Medical Training: Enhancing capabilities in aviation operations and medical preparedness in adverse conditions. Environment Conservation: Promoting awareness and practices for sustainable environmental conservation during operations. Strengthening Bilateral Ties: Fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between the two armies through shared experiences and ideas.
