Why in News?
THE LONE tiger that came to Chhattisgarh's Barnawapara sanctuary in March this year was relocated to the newly notified Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve after it entered a village and then into a town.
About Barnawapara wildlife sanctuary:
Location: It is located in the district of Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
The rivers Balmedhi, Jonk and Mahanadi are the lifeline river which runs along the sanctuary.
River Balamdehi forms the western boundary and Jonk River forms the northeastern boundary of the Sanctuary.
Flora: The sanctuary contains major vegetation of Teak, Sal and Mixed forest.
Fauna: Cheetal, Sambhar, Nilgai and Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, are commonly seen.

About Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve:
It is located in the northern part of the state Chhattisgarh, bordering Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. India has recently notified the Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla (GGTP) Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh as the country's 56th tiger reserve. 
It is the third largest tiger reserve in the country after Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve in Andhra Pradesh and Manas Tiger Reserve in Assam. 
This tiger reserve is connected to the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh to the West and Palamau Tiger Reserve in Jharkhand to the East. 
It is nestled in the Chota Nagpur plateau and partly in Baghelkhand plateau.
It is contiguous with the Sanjay Dubri Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.
Rivers: It serves as the origin of significant rivers such as Hasdeo Gopad and Baranga and a catchment area for rivers like Neur, Bijadhur, Banas, Rehand, and numerous smaller rivers and rivulets.
Terrain: It is blessed with varied terrains, dense forests, streams and rivers favourable for harbouring a rich faunal diversity and contains critical habitats for the tiger.
Fauna: A total of 753 species, including 365 invertebrates and 388 vertebrates, have been documented here by the Zoological Survey of India.
Other Tigers reserves in Chhattisgarh: Udanti-Sitanadi, Achanakmar, and Indravati Reserves.

About Syed Modi International Badminton Championships:
The Syed Modi International Badminton Championships is an international badminton tournament held annually in India.
It was introduced to the badminton circuit as a BWF Grand Prix event in 2009. Since then the tournament has been annually held in Lucknow at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, although it was temporarily shifted to Hyderabad in 2010. In 2011, it was upgraded to the Grand Prix Gold event. Badminton World Federation launched a new event structure in 2017. This tournament was then announced as a World Tour Super 300 event ever since 2018.

Why in News?
MANILA, PHILIPPINES (28 November 2024) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Board of Governors has unanimously elected Masato Kanda as ADB’s 11th President.
About Masato Kanda:
Mr. Kanda, 59, currently serves as Special Advisor to Japan’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. He will assume office on 24 February 2025, succeeding Masatsugu Asakawa, who will leave office on 23 February 2025. Mr. Kanda will complete the unexpired term of President Asakawa, which ends on 23 November 2026.
With nearly 4 decades of experience, Mr. Kanda has held key leadership roles at the Ministry of Finance of Japan, including Vice-Minister of Finance for International Affairs. He has extensive experience in financial sector policy and macro-fiscal policy, having served as Deputy Commissioner at the Financial Services Agency, Deputy Director-General of the Budget Bureau, and Deputy Vice-Minister for Policy Planning and Coordination. He is also a leading expert in education and science policy as well as university reform.         
Mr. Kanda has been actively engaged in the G7, G20, and other international forums, addressing key policy challenges such as multilateral development bank (MDB) evolution, pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, and debt sustainability and transparency. During his tenure as Vice-Minister of Finance for International Affairs, Japan made a record contribution of more than $1 billion to the Asian Development Fund 13th replenishment (ADF 14).
Since 2016, Mr. Kanda has served as Chair of the OECD Corporate Governance Committee, overseeing the review of the G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance in 2023. He also has substantial experience in strategic discussions and decision-making at MDBs, having served as Alternate Executive Director for Japan at the World Bank.
Mr. Kanda obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo in 1987, and M.Phil in Economics from Oxford University in 1991.
